A Blackfulla Dance Music Experience at Melbourne Town Hall. Get down for a meeting of music and storylines from across the continent, driven by the spirit of community and connection.

After Day Tripper, we’re clearing the Town Hall floor for First Frequency.

Join RONA., DJ PGZ, and Kalaji for First Frequency. Three visionary First Nations artists, journey across Country, from expansive desert to the urban underground, for a meeting of music and storylines. A sovereign space for mob to move, celebrate and gather. An open invitation to shake loose, and experience deep storytelling and movement, embedded in sound. Each drop, bassline, and rhythm becoming part of something bigger.

From the West, Nyikina artist Kalaji opens space with a visceral, cinematic live show that merges cutting-edge production with deep cultural roots. From the Centre, RONA., Kaytetye artist, producer, and DJ, delivers a set infused with sounds and rhythms from her home in the desert. Down East, Gunai/Kurnai and Yorta Yorta artist, DJ and producer, DJ PGZ invites you to the Black underground as he soundtracks the Black urban, the Black industrial, and Black catharsis. His early-rave inspired set will oscillate between deep grooves to sit in, bone rattling bass, climbing tension and ecstatic release.

There’ll also be a spoken-word piece from Brother Nelson, another Nyikina artist, who’ll get on the mic to explore connections to culture, country and family. Mikaela Stafford is on the visuals for RONA. immersing the Hall in 3D, bio-digital environments. Endless Prowl will bring DJ PGZ’s Black underground to visual life. Narrm stalwart Rhys Newling is working closely with all artists to realise the overall vision.

First Frequency represents the original sound connected to First Nations people, one that has always been here, and always will. It’s the vibration of Country, the rhythm of footsteps and ceremony, and the echoes of voices that carry knowledge through generations. A chance to experience a conversation through music that transcends time—connecting past, present, and future through basslines, synths, and movement. The transmutation of sovereign sound through technology.

This is the future of electronic music on this continent. This is First Frequency. Get ready to lock in.
