ACCESSIBLE BATHROOM

Toilets are located on all four floors of the Arts and Cultural Building. Accessible bathrooms are available on all levels. All-gender bathrooms can be found on Ground Level and Levels 1 and 3.

Baby change facilities are available at the Ground Level bathrooms.

ACCESSIBLE ENTRANCE

There are two main entrance points to the Arts and Cultural Building from Swanston St — either walk down Monash Road (Gate 4) or enter via the Amphitheatre entrance off Swanston St and follow along the flat top level to the Monash Road doors.

The Union Theatre and the Guild Theatre are both on Level 2. The Venue Management and Union House Theatre offices can be found on Level 3.

ACCESSIBLE PARKING AND DROP OFF

Guests can be dropped off and picked up by taxi, ride-share or personal vehicle at the circular Gate 4 entrance at top of Monash Rd off Swanston St within a 30m distance to main door of building.

There are limited accessible drop off parking spaces available at the Gate 4 entrance for a 15-minute time period. Longer-term Accessible parking is available across Swanston St on Faraday St and within the Ace Parking carpark also on Faraday St.

PARKING

The closest car parks are the Ace Parking Faraday St and the Eastern Precinct Car Park.

Ace Parking Faraday St is located at 265 Faraday St, Carlton, which is opposite the Monash Road entrance (Gate 4). For Ace Parking opening hours and parking rates, visit the Ace Parking website.

The Eastern Precinct Car Park is located at 375 Cardigan Street, Carlton, near the corner of Elgin Street. This car park is an approximate 5-minute walk from the venue, with access across Swanston St via the Elgin St footbridge. Click here for a map.

Hours: Monday to Sunday, 6am to midnight.

Fees: On weekdays, $18.00 for 4 hours, $25.00 for all day and $12.00 after 5:00pm, weekends and public holidays.

Payment: Scan your debit or credit card to enter the carpark. Upon exit, the boom gate will indicate the amount owing and pay with your debit or credit card at the gate. You cannot pay with cash at this location.

BICYCLES

The University encourages cycling as a mode of transport and is always developing their campuses with bicycle facilities in mind. A large proportion of bicycle racks on campus are checked by security and covered by CCTV.

There are a number of bicycle lock up racks directly opposite the Arts & Cultural Building entrance on Monash Road.

PUBLIC TRANSPORT

Catch any Swanston St tram to Stop 1 – Melbourne University tram stop to enter the campus via Monash Road (Gate 4) or the amphitheatre (Gate 6).

Visit Public Transport Victoria for journey planning and ticketing information. Please note, the University of Melbourne Parkville campus is not within the Free Tram Zone.

PRE-SHOW DINING

Located nearby the Potter Museum of Art, Residence is a new day-to-night venue founded by Nathen Doyle and Cameron Earl. Residence will see a different head chef-in-residence ever year, Robbie Noble showcasing his concept ‘Cherrywood’ from June 2025.

The Ida Bar

Located on Level 1 of Building 168 next door to the Arts and Cultural Building, the iconic Ida Bar offers all-day food service and some of Melbourne's finest coffee and local beer in a newly designed space by award-winning architecture firm Sibling. Opening Hours – 9am-9pm Monday to Friday, Closed Weekends
